A Claude Code plugin for Mac and Windows

Type sort. Watch your Downloads clean itself.

The Sorting Room looks through any messy folder, suggests folders from what's actually in it, and sorts every file into place on a live dashboard. Then open any folder to delete or move what you don't need.

Everything a messy folder needs

Smart folders

Suggested from your files

Photos by month, videos, screenshots, music, documents, zips, installers. Rename anything with a click.

Search

Find anything, fast

Type "October", "screenshots" or "invoice" and the matching files light up in the pile.

Dates

Folders for any period

Drag across the timeline or type a date range to make a folder like "October 2026", grouped by type inside.

Ask Claude

Plain-English requests

"Put my Paris photos in a Paris folder." Claude rearranges the plan before anything moves.

Clean up

Open any folder

After sorting, click a folder to see every file. Select what you don't need and delete it, or move it to another folder.

Duplicates

Copies found for you

Exact duplicates go into their own folder with the space they take, so you decide what to delete.

Add anytime

Drop in new files

Drop files on the dashboard or press Add files. They land in a fresh pile, ready to sort into your folders.

For creators

Talking-head vs B-roll

Claude can look inside your videos and split clips of you on camera from B-roll and screen recordings.

Make it yours

Pick your glow colour and one of three layouts. Just ask Claude in your own words. Want to tweak anything else? Ask Claude in Claude Code and it makes the change.

Ask Claude: Put the pile on the left

Set up in two minutes

Your files are safe

Nothing moves until you press Sort. The first pass is only a plan.
Sorting never deletes anything. It only moves files into new folders inside the folder you chose.
You decide what gets deleted. Deleted files go to your Mac's Trash, so you can get them back.
Changed your mind? Undo puts the whole sort back.
Everything runs on your Mac. No files are uploaded anywhere.

Questions

What do I need?

A Mac or a Windows 10/11 PC, and Claude Code (the desktop app or the terminal) with a Claude plan. If your Mac needs Node.js, Claude installs it for you the first time.

How much space does it take?

The plugin is about 0.1 MB. Node.js takes 100 to 200 MB only if your Mac doesn't have it yet, and thumbnails use 5 to 40 MB while you sort. Under 250 MB in total. Your files are moved, never copied.

Does it cost anything to use?

Sorting, searching and date folders run on your Mac and are free. Plain-English requests and splitting your videos are answered by Claude, so they use a little of your Claude plan.

Does it work on Windows?

Yes. The Sorting Room was built on a Mac, for Mac, and it works on Windows 10 and 11 too. Claude works out which computer you have by itself, and if anything needs adjusting on your PC, just ask Claude. On Windows, deleted files go to the Recycle Bin and videos show as play tiles, and splitting talking-head clips from B-roll is Mac only for now.

Can I sort more than one folder?

Yes. Switch folders from the dashboard title (Downloads, Desktop, Documents or any folder) and sort them one after another.
